Stone Temple Pilots—the band cursed to be an eternal punchline thanks to former frontman Scott Weiland’s seemingly never-ending drug problems, a sonic similarity to Pearl Jam in their early days, and their recent termination of Weiland and replacing him with Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington (seriously), is now giving music fans something else to revile them over: a fall tour and new EP.
It’s unfortunate, as the band managed to generate a series of solid ‘90s radio hits, but will likely be reminded for their more public acrimony and the fact that they hired the guy who yells a lot from Linkin Park to sing for them. But hey, maybe someone will like it. The band is currently working on a new EP with Bennington, and has announced a handful of tour dates (check ‘em out below, via The AV Club):
