L.A. hotshots the Silversun Pickups have released their shoegazed and gear-grinded rock n’ pop at a steady clip since their formation in 2002, beginning with an EP in 2005 and three full-lengths for Dangerbird Records between 2006 and 2012.  After the relative silence of 2013 (which featured a tour but no new releases), the band is set to release the inevitable stop-gap best-of in 2014.

Titled The Singles Collection, the release is, well, the band’s singles collection, taking one track from their 2005 EP Pikul, nine singles (three from each of their three album), and their newest single, the new-song-dropped-into-a-best-of-collection-to-make-it-more-enticing-for-fans track, “Cannibal.”

But hey, we kid—the new track is actually pretty great:

While The Singles Collection is clearly a retrospective document, frontman Brian Aubert claims not to focus much on the band’s past, according to Rolling Stone:

“We have a band amnesia that keeps us from looking at the past…It’s not conscious, it’s just how we operate. All these songs are just a part of our fabric and we perform them all often, which keeps them current. So we have modern memories attached to them as well as the historical ones.”

Further, Aubert states there are no plans to hit the studio anytime soon to record a fourth album.  “It’s best for us to lay low and eventually build momentum organically. We’ll start working on the next album when we all come to the conclusion that it’s time. We never know when that’ll be, but personally, I hope it’s sooner than later. I have a lot of weird ideas that need to come out.”

Check out The Singles Collection tracklisting:
